The Salvation Army Responds to Tornado Outbreak in Parts of Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, OK (February 27, 2023) – A strong storm system crossed parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma on Sunday evening bringing at least 15 tornadoes in its wake. The Salvation Army of Arkansas and Oklahoma immediately went into emergency disaster response mode.

The Salvation Army is coordinating with the State of Oklahoma Emergency Operations Center and partners to determine impacted areas and assess areas that may need assistance.

On Monday, a canteen from Central Oklahoma Area Command will be providing meals, snacks, and hydration as they help Cleveland County where there is a lot of damage being reported.   Shawnee Corps Officer, Captain Patrick Connelly is working with the local Emergency Manager and will be assessing damage and responding as needed.

The Salvation Army will be prepared to serve food, hydration, and emotional and spiritual care to first responders and those affected by the tornadoes. Please pray for all of those affected by the storms today. Multiple locations in Oklahoma experienced severe weather on Sunday evening.

Financial donations can be made at www.helpsalvationarmy.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY to support response efforts.
