Salvation Army Providing Support to Tornado Survivors in Bowling Green, Kentucky
Bowling Green, KY – An outbreak of tornados ravaged several areas in Western Kentucky Friday evening, into Saturday morning. Damage assessments are still underway due to inaccessible area and cell phone outages, but The Salvation Army is providing hope and services to those in Bowling Green and Warren County.
The Salvation Army of Bowling Green, Kentucky currently has one fixed feeding location at Jennings Creek Elementary School located at 2617 Russellville Road. This location is serving as the county point of distribution for all tornado assistance. They also have one canteen in the community of Magnolia historical district. In addition to food and drinks, vital emotional and spiritual care is being provided to those suffering devastating losses. Captains Johnny and Monica Horton, Corps Officers for The Salvation Army of Bowling Green, have provided 695 meals, 451 drinks, 49 snacks, and spiritual and emotional care for 61 individuals.
“There are some areas we still can’t get into yet,” says Captain Monica Horton. “We are thankful for the support we’ve received and will continue providing meals and emotional support to those in Warren County until the need has been met.”
