The Greater Chicagoland Salvation Army EDS Continues Supporting First Responders

The Greater Chicagoland Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) staff and volunteers are responding to the Chemtool fire in Rockton, IL. EDS has deployed a mobile feeding unit, as well as an urban field kitchen and rapid response unit to provide meals, snacks and hydration to first responders.

EDS has been onsite in Rockton since 8:30 a.m. Monday supporting more than 300 first responders. In that time, EDS has provided 12,000 bottles of water, 4,000 snacks, and 1,200 meals.

EDS is working in unison with the Winnebago County Emergency Operations Center and State of Illinois Emergency Operations Center to provide continuous 24/7 support.

EDS staff and volunteers are also prepared to provide Emotional & Spiritual Care to first responders as requested.

The Chemtool fire is expected to be a multi-day event, and The Salvation Army is committed to remaining onsite 24 hours a day until the last responder leaves.
