SALVATION ARMY OFFICERS, STAFF, AND VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION MONDAY ACROSS EASTERN NEBRASKA AND WESTERN IOWA

The Salvation Army Western Division was at work again Monday in flood-damaged communities across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.  Following is a breakdown of some of the flood-relief support activities in which our officers, staff, and volunteers were participating today:

In Omaha—The flood-relief-items donation center at the old Canfield's near 84th & Center continued operations today (noon to 6 P.M.); it will be open from noon-6 P.M. through Friday, March 22.  We would truly appreciate continued donations of flood-cleanup supplies, including:

  • Mops
  • Buckets
  • Work gloves
  • Rakes
  • Shovels
  • Bleach
  • Household cleaning items

PLUS:  Kroc Center Omaha staff are serving three meals per day at the flood-relief shelter at Calvary Church in Bellevue.

In Sioux City—Officers and staff have been serving three meals a day to people in flood-damaged areas around the Sioux City area, while also providing emotional and spiritual care, as well.

In Fremont—The team there is assisting with food service efforts at various local shelters, helping people affected by the floods.  Among those efforts, they served some 500 people at lunchtime.

In Norfolk—Among other work, staff helped people affected by flooding to find short-term housing.

The Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to assist with flood-relief efforts—and donations to support flood-relief efforts.  To volunteer:  go to www.registertoring.com or call 402-898-6050.  To donate: go to www.salarmyomaha.org and click on the ‘Donate Now’ button.
