Paducah Salvation Army Responds to Strong Storms and Tornadoes

Paducah, KY (November 17, 2013) - Several tornadoes have been sighted as severe storms moved across the Midwest today, causing displaced families and loss of live.   The Salvation Army in at least three states has activated Emergency Disaster Services response teams and equipment, adding to the year-round services offered in every zip code in the Country.

Lt. Joseph Crawford, The Salvation Army’s representative responsible for Paducah and the surrounding areas is working with local Emergency Management officials in McCracken County.   Lt. Crawford is also coordinating with fire departments and emergency personnel from hard-hit Brookport, IL just across the river from Paducah. 

The Salvation Army structure allows for prepositioning of a variety of emergency response equipment in strategic locations around the country, including a canteen (mobile feeding unit) stationed in Paducah, Kentucky.   Should they be needed, additional equipment and personnel in nearby communities are on stand-by.
